SEABORNE INTRODUCES FREQUENT-FLYER 'SEA-MILES'

May 17, 2002 – Seaborne Airlines launched its SeaMiles frequent flyer program on Saturday, giving passengers the opportunity to earn miles toward future Seaborne flights, car rentals and stays at San Juan, St. Thomas, St. Croix and St. John hotels, as well as travel vouchers good toward trips anywhere.
"This will give people more for what they're purchasing," Seaborne's chief marketing officer, Omer ErSelcuk, said.
He said the company hopes with the new program to gain customers who currently fly other airlines. To sweeten the pot, Seaborne will start accounts with 150 free miles for anyone who signs up by the end of May.
The program works like this: Passengers earn 40 miles for a trip between St. Thomas and St. Croix, 65 miles for a trip between St. Thomas and Old San Juan, and 85 miles for a trip between St. Croix and Old San Juan. That's one way; a round trip in each instance is worth twice the miles.
In order to earn SeaMiles, customers must purchase resident or non-resident full-fare tickets or fly on corporate/bulk tickets or those acquired through the airline's "Fully Flexible" program. The company's $85 mid-day SeaSavers tickets good for trips between St. Thomas and St. Croix, other promotional fares and children's tickets do not earn miles.
It will take 1,000 SeaMiles to qualify for a free frequent flyer ticket for any Seaborne inter-island flight.
A night at a hotel will take 1,000 to 2,000 miles depending on the property, availability and time of year. Participating hotels are the Wyndham Old San Juan in Puerto Rico; Wyndham Sugar Bay Beach Resort and Marriott Frenchman's Reef Beach Resort on St. Thomas; Westin Resort on St. John; and Divi Carina Bay Resort on St. Croix.
Renting a car from any Avis location in the world will run you from 500 to more than 1,000 SeaMiles per day, depending upon the season, location, availability and class of vehicle. For example, a compact car might run 500 SeaMiles a day, while a full-size car in season could come closer to 1,000 a day.
Anyone who accumulates 3,000 miles becomes eligible for a $300 Neptune Gift Certificate, travel voucher redeemable at Southerland Tours on St. Croix. The voucher can be used toward booking any type of travel anywhere in the world through Southerland.
SeaMiles are good for three years from the date of issue. For the nitty-gritty details on the SeaMiles program, visit the Seaborne Airlines web site. To apply for a SeaMiles account, call 773-5991, ext. 11, or toll-free (866) 359-8784, ext. 11. A SeaMiles representative is on duty Monday through Friday.
