Feb. 6, 2002 – Rita Spain was the winner Saturday of $5,000 in the Divi Carina Bay Casino's Gridiron Giveaway.
Spain's name was chosen from among more than 200 names and more than 700 entries. She chose the cash award over the other prize option, a jet ski and trailer.
The Gridiron Giveaway started last Sept. 4, with the first drawing on Sept. 10, 2001.
