SBA Appoints V.I. Small Business Owner to Regional Board

The Small Business Administration (SBA) has appointed St. Thomas small business owner Priscilla Hintz-Rivera to the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Region II Regulatory Fairness Board.
There are Regional Regulatory Fairness Boards in all 10 of SBA’s regions, which represent the voice of small business on regulatory fairness issues. Each board is comprised of five small business owners and serves as a resource and point of contact for small business owners who feel they have experienced excessive federal regulatory enforcement and compliance actions. SBA Region II includes the U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, New York and New Jersey.
Board members advise the National Ombudsman and Assistant Administrator for Regulatory Enforcement Fairness Brian Castro. The national ombudsman and board members host regulatory fairness hearings and outreach events nationwide where small business owners report concerns about burdensome federal regulations.
“As an entrepreneur and small business owner, Ms. Hintz-Rivera is a dedicated small business advocate and community leader who has consistently delivered cost-effective, impact-driven ideas and solutions,” Castro said. “The members of the Regulatory Fairness Board play a critical role in making sure the voice of small business is heard by regulators and help to support regulatory solutions that save small business time and money.”
Hintz-Rivera will serve as a local resource for small businesses and will work with small business trade groups and other entities to address local and regional concerns.
She is the principal owner of PHR-Arts Projects and the founder/ director of Artvi Advocates (a nonprofit arts organization) based on St. Thomas. She brings years of public relations and marketing expertise, and well-established networks and board affiliations to support small business outreach events and accessibility initiatives. Hintz-Rivera can be reached by e-mail at phintz@gmail.com or by phone at 690-9528.
