DEZARIE AND 'THE FIRE BAND' AT HARBOUR NIGHT

Dec. 15, 2001 – Downtown Frederiksted will celebrate the next Harbour Night on Wednesday from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. Featured will be the Reggae music of Frederiksted's own Dezarie and The Fire Band.
Dezarie, whose new CD is called "Fire," has been voted "The best new female reggae artist of 2000," said a release.
Others featured during the evening are The Noel Band, Steel-O-Phonics, Dem Boys, and Willard John's Moko Jumbies.
With the music as a backdrop, attendees can shop for last-minute holiday gifts in more than 50 of St. Croix's finest arts and craft vendors.
Those who wish can support the fund-raising activities of American Red Cross, Boys & Girls Club, Karamu Afi Dancers, St. Croix Animal Shelter, and the V.I. Chess Foundation. The nonprofit activities are sponsored by Divi Carina Bay Casino and McDonalds/St. Croix.
No parking will be allowed on Strand Street in Frederiksted from 5 p.m. to midnight. Cars parked there will be towed at the owner's expense by order of V.I. Police Department.
"Vast security improvements have been made," according to the release, "including increased V.I. police presence and improved lighting on Strand Street."
