Maria Henle Studio is pleased to present printmaker Nicolette Jelen. The works are monoprints and mezzotints, all hand-pulled prints on paper.
Originally from Morocco, Jelen works with delicate tone and line in her mezzotints and monoprints, creating landscapes and figurative images reminiscent of classical sketches and the crumbling frescoes of Pompeii.
In her words, the work "shows the beauty and fragility of life." Henle and Jelen became friends while working at New York's Printmaking Workshop in the 1980s: Maria Henle is proud to share her colleague's work with St. Croix art lovers.
