Police Prevent Burglars from Making Off with Property

Police prevented two would-be burglars from escaping with their pilfered good Saturday morning after receiving a report of a burglary in Estate La Grande Princess, according to the V.I. Police Department.

At 4:53 a.m., a concerned citizen called the 911 emergency center to report a pair of suspicious men in the La Grande Princess area.

At the scene, officers found a residence with an open door. Inside the home, police saw that personal items, including the keys for a pickup truck, had been taken.

The resident of the home said he had fallen asleep and left the door the unlocked.

The suspects were intercepted on a roadway not far from the home, attempting to leave with the pickup truck. Members of the VIPD’s SRT, or special response team, prevented them from leaving in the vehicle. The suspects fled the area by foot. The personal items were recovered.

The VIPD issued a thanks to the citizens of the community for assisting with the necessary information to prevent the loss of property.

Police urged anyone with further information to call the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-778-2211 in St. Croix or 340-774-2211 on St. Thomas, or call the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477.
