A woman was found shot to death Wednesday in the Clifton Hill area, the V.I. Police Department reported.
The victim was identified by police as 23-year-old Shauntol S. Yearwood. It was the 11th homicide on St. Croix since the start of the year the 23rd in the territory.
At about 5:25 p.m. Wednesday citizens in the Clifton Hill area called the 911 center to report hearing shots fired. At the scene, officers discovered an unresponsive female, later identified as Yearwood, lying on the ground with multiple shots to body. Medical attendants declared her dead on the scene. She was transported to the Juan F. Luis Hospital by morgue attendants.
The Criminal Investigation Bureau is investigating. Police urged anyone with information to call the bureau at 340-778-2211, the 911 emergency call center, or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477.
