St. Croix Track Club Brings Home Five Championship Medals

The St. Croix Track Club

Coach Smith and the five members of the St. Croix Track Club who competed in Puerto Rico

is enthusiastic about its five athletes who participated in the AAJI (ASOCIACIÓN DE ATLETISMO JUVENIL E INFANTIL) Track and Field Championship Finals on May 13 that was held in Ponce, Puerto Rico. Three of the athletes qualified for more than one event based upon the two previous qualifying meets, which is quite remarkable.

In the case of Mikaela Smith, who qualified for three events (400m, 800m, 1500m), she had to choose two. These championships would be considered a state championships due to the population of Puerto Rico. According to the USA’s 2016 census, Puerto Rico is ranked the 29th largest in population among all states and territories. This is one reason the athletes’ performances are so impressive.
