Women’s Coalition to Open Registration for 33rd Women Race Set for June 4

Course Map for Annual Women Race

The Women’s Coalition of St. Croix (WCSC) will hold its 33rd Annual Women Race at 4:45 p.m., Sunday, June 4, in Christiansted. In-person pre-registration for WCSC’s two-mile peace race for women and girls will begin on May 15.

The Women Race is organized by the V.I. Pace Runners. “The Women Race continues to offer everyone in our community a special opportunity to get together, show support for victims and survivors, and enjoy a fun, healthy activity. Only women and girls can enter the race, but the encouragement from everyone else on the sidelines is very important,” said Clema Lewis, WCSC’s executive director.

Victims and survivors also participate in the Women Race, proudly demonstrating their triumph and healing from the trauma of abusive relationships, sexual assault and other crimes. In addition to individuals, various schools, clubs, organizations and businesses enter teams in the race. Teams that pre-register will receive special certificates. The fastest team (minimum of five members) will receive a trophy.

The Mary Mingus Perpetual Trophy will be awarded to the school with the most participants (minimum of 25 members). Awards will be given to “Racers” in several categories including presentations to overall winners and top age-group finishers.

The pre-registration entry fee is $20; it includes a commemorative T-shirt. Registration on Race Day is $25.
