‘Face to Face’ to Feature V.I. Transfer Centennial Commission

Members of the Virgin Islands Transfer Centennial Commission will appear on WTJX’s “Face to Face,” which is hosted by Addie Ottley and airs on Channel 12. It will air at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 15.

The discussion will highlight official Centennial events planned for the coming weeks. Among them will be parades and ceremonies on St. Thomas and St. Croix to mark the 100th anniversary of the March 31, 1917, transfer of the Danish West Indies to the United States.

The kick-off event will be the re-opening of historic Fort Christian on March 24, followed by a spectacular boat parade courtesy of St. Thomas Yacht Club and participants in the 44th St. Thomas International Regatta. A free concert will close out the evening.

Viewers will be encouraged to offer comments and to pose questions to commission members about the planned centennial events. Among the commission’s goals is to educate the public about the importance of this historical event and to promote maximum community participation. A variety of Centennial commemorative items will be on display for the public during the program.
