Calling All Artists for Submissions to the Centennial Exhibition

The Centennial Exhibition is seeking contributing artists for “My Take/My View,” which will open on April 15, at Fort Frederik in Fredericksted. The exhibition is seeking work in all mediums, work that is edgy, work that interrogates, Work that is open-ended and probing.

What does the Centennial mean to the artist? (history/facts/legacy). What was the status of the Virgin Islands on Jan. 17, 1917, when the Danes sold the territory to the U.S.A.? Did the V.I. people have any say in the sale? How did they benefit if at all? How much of the $25 million ($463 million in current prices) did the Danes give to the people of the Virgin Islands or use to improve or benefit the society?

Submit as many as six jpeg images, plus a five-line artist bio to curator:

All work must be delivered to Fort Frederik between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. All art work must be framed with wire hanger and be ready to be hung; all art work must be labelled on the back with the artist’s name, the medium, the size and the price.
