V.I. Police officers arrested 24-year-old Chavez Ali Friday night and charged him with second-degree assault/domestic violence.
According to the police report, at about 11:20 p.m. Friday officers were contacted by a woman at the Ancilmo Marshal Command Station who told them the incident took place at the home of her boyfriend. She said she was there with their one-year old child. The child fell off the couch and busted his lips. When she requested her boyfriend take the child to hospital to seek medical attention he became enraged, she said.
According to the woman’s report, he grabbed her by the throat with both hands, squeezed her until she could not breathe, punched her in the head several times, and dragged her by the hair across the floor.
The victim managed to contact a family member. Her boyfriend left the residence immediately.
At 11:53p.m. officers contacted Ali and arrested him, charging him with second-degree assault/domestic violence. No bail was set and he was transported to Golden Grove Detention Center pending his advice of his rights hearing.
