Mustangs Compete Well at Puerto Rican Track and Field Games

The St. Croix Track & Field Club (Mustangs) with Coach Keith SmithThe St. Croix Track Club (STXTC) Mustangs competed well at the AAJI Youth Imperial Track and Field for 14-19-year-olds in Barcelonita, Puerto Rico, this weekend. The event hosted over 732 athletes in two- year age groups. STXTC took 12 athletes hoping to gain much needed competition and experience.

Those athletes were: Anelia Austrie, Krystahl Gordon, Mikaela Smith, Gregory Gibson, Valence Modeste, Inari Wilkinson, Xiaxaing Washington, Jusinia Tuitt, Stefanie Matthew, Danielle Joseph, Brianna Bruce and Layla Browne.

The Mustangs won a total of five gold, two silver and one bronze. These athletes and their events are:

Anelia Austrie — triple jump: 10.92m and high jump: 1.55m

Krystahl Gordon — long jump: 4.75m and triple jump: 10.56m

Mikaela Smith — 400m hurdles: 67.13/600m

Danielle Joseph — 150m: 18.82 and 300m: 43.51,

Layla Browne – javelin: 24.82
